Dr. K. M. Smith
Dr. Smith earned a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, a Master’s in Higher Education from Trident University International, and Bachelor’s in Health Education from Touro University. As an adjunct faculty member, she introduces online hybrid/blended learning to non-traditional students and instructors. Dr. Smith specializes in fulfilling innovative online learning initiatives by providing leadership in constructing online courses and acclimating ground campus faculty to educational technology and online instructional design. As former Director of Curriculum Content, the institution received several state and private contracts, where Dr. Smith provided training to faculty and industry professionals in preparation to deliver online education and supporting best practices for online course development. Recently, she spearheaded the complete overhaul and modernization of a mid-sized University’s online learning systems and processes. She was integral in selecting Blackboard as the institutions’ learning management system and implementing virtual learning labs for clinical courses. Currently, Dr. Smith participates on several higher education boards, including the Advisory Board with Maryland Distance Learning Association, Board of Directors with Healthcare Associates of America and as lead Reviewer for a multitude of Instructional Design, healthcare, higher education, and Doctoral Dissertation committees and organization. Recently publishing an exploratory study, “<em>Gamification and ADA: Ensuring Equity</em>” in the International Journal of Information and Learning Technology, Dr. Smith currently serves as the Director of Online Course Design, where she is a leading resource in developing online courses and digital learning objects, proper use of multimedia in online courses, doctoral student mentoring, and supporting best practices in online education.
