ACCT 538 Forensic Accounting and the Legal Environment


Through this course, students will learn about the legal issues related to occupational fraud investigations. Emphasis will be on how students may prepare a fraud report, along with the processes and techniques that will enable effectiveness and efficiency.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Critically analyze relevant criminal and civil laws related to forensic accounting and fraud.
  • Thoroughly understand the rights of parties who are involved in allegations of occupational fraud.
  • Gain thorough understanding of rules of evidence and when they are applicable.
  • Discuss the topic of expert witnessing, and gain the requisite skills required for interviewing needed to build up evidence for fraud cases.
