BSN 400 Health Assessment


This course teaches practical application of holistic health assessment as foundation for nursing intervention and practice. Skills to be taught are interviewing skills, physical examination, health history, cultural variations and laboratory and diagnostic procedures.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Use therapeutic communication skills required in engagements with patients, health care team members and colleagues.
  • Skillfully conduct a physical assessment on any patients throughout the lifespan.
  • Demonstrate heightening self-awareness and behavior appropriate for personal and professional development.
  • Physically assess patients from various special populations; as well as those with pregnancy, aging, pediatric and functional limitations.
