HRM 528 Employment Regulations

This course introduces students to laws regulating the workplace. Through this course, students learn about sources of law for employers and management so that they could chart the overlapping and at times conflicting roles of federal and state legal regulation relevant to employment and labor.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the fundamentals of employment and labor law.
  • Discuss the legal aspects of the structure, history and values underlying employment relations in the United States.
  • Identify situations that often present legal issues impacting employers and employees as well as understand the legal, social, and economic risks of potential legal claims.
  • Identify when a legal issue entails the involvement of a lawyer.
