PSY 520 Substance Abuse Policy

This course offers an integrated study of effective diagnostic methods and treatment strategies for alcoholism and substance abuse, including detection and diagnosis of abuse, early intervention techniques, evaluation of detoxification and medical consequences, and inpatient and outpatient treatment programs.

Learning Outcomes:

  • a proficiency in reading and writing within the conceptual framework of substance abuse;
  • an oral proficiency in understanding the genesis of an nature of addiction;
  • an ability to identify, analyze, and understand the origin of various treatment models predominant in contemporary psychology.
