Position Summary
Charisma University promotes a student-centered online education, deviating away from the traditional education, which is professor-centered. A faculty member facilitates each class for a maximum of 8 weeks. The role of our faculty is to choose and filter information for our online student consideration. In our online classroom, the faculty provides thought-provoking questions and also facilitates well-considered discussions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Ensure classes are set up properly
2. Manages the classroom based on the guidelines outlined in the faculty handbook
3. Provides individualized instruction to students who require additional assistance
4. Maintaining and submitting accurate and timely student grades
5. Reporting concerns regarding student academic progress to the appropriate person
6. Uses the materials provided by the University
7. Creates a classroom environment that is focused on course content and detailed, timely feedback
8. Facilitates weekly discussions relating to course content
9. Responds to assignments within five (5) days of the assignment deadline or within five (5) days of submission, if late
10. Respond within 24 hours of receipt to all direct questions posed by students or school leadership to any class forum or personal email
11. Actively assisting the University in retention efforts which will include contacting students who are not engaged in the course or absent
12. Participating in institutional assessment activities as assigned, including end-of-course assessments
13. Regularly attending and participating in faculty meetings and continuous improvement sessions
14. Completing 8 hours of formal/active professional development activities year each year
15. Maintaining open communication with students and the University
16. Providing students with appropriate guidance regarding academic excellence and attendance
17. Other duties as assigned by the college deans
18. Complete end of Course Evaluations at the end of each course (see Governance and IQAS manual)
19. Complete self-reflection and faculty development plan report at the end of each year (See Governance and IQAS manual)

Minimum Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Below are the minimum requirements of the education, experience, knowledge and skills required to competently perform in this position. Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
Minimum Requirements:
o Terminal Degree in subject being taught from an accredited university. Or, at least 18 credits in subject matter being taught.
o Depending on the degree program, for example, in accounting, a professional accounting certification may be desirable.
o PC skills and proficiency with word-processing, spreadsheet, web-based search engines and applications required.
o Must be able to respond to student emails within 24 hours during the weekdays and 48 hours during the weekends.
o High level of interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
o Ability to work independently as well as function as part of a team.
o Attend school and department meetings.
Preferred Skills and Experience
o Ability to use Learning Management Systems.
o 5-10 years of experience practicing in subject area.
o History of publishing in peer reviewed journals.
