Position Summary
At Charisma University, we believe in transforming education by putting students at the center of their learning journey. Our online education approach deviates from the traditional model, offering a student-centered experience. As an Adjunct Faculty member in the School of Health Sciences, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating engaging and interactive classes for a maximum of 8 weeks, shaping the educational experience for our online students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure proper setup of online classes.
  • Adhere to guidelines outlined in the faculty handbook for effective classroom management.
  • Provide personalized instruction to students requiring additional assistance.
  • Maintain and submit accurate and timely student grades.
  • Report concerns regarding student academic progress to the appropriate channels.
  • Use materials provided by the University in course facilitation.
  • Create a focused classroom environment with detailed, timely feedback.
  • Lead weekly discussions related to course content.
  • Respond to assignments within five (5) days of the deadline or submission, if late.
  • Respond within 24 hours to all student and leadership queries.
  • Actively assist in retention efforts by engaging with students not participating in the course.
  • Participate in institutional assessment activities as assigned.
  • Regularly attend and actively participate in faculty meetings and continuous improvement sessions.
  • Complete 8 hours of formal/active professional development activities each year.
  • Maintain open communication with students and the University.
  • Provide students with appropriate guidance on academic excellence and attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by college deans.
  • Complete end-of-course evaluations and self-reflection reports as per the Governance and IQAS manual.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:

To excel in this position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Terminal Degree in the subject being taught or at least 18 credits in the subject matter.
  • Relevant professional certification, if applicable.
  • Proficiency in PC skills and web-based applications.
  • Timely response to student emails (within 24 hours on weekdays, 48 hours on weekends).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Attend school and department meetings.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Proficiency in Learning Management Systems.
  • 5-10 years of practical experience in the subject area.
  • History of publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
Verification

Faculty may be initially hired based on resumes and unofficial transcripts but will need to provide the following:

  • Official, unopened transcripts to the Turks and Caicos offices.
  • Links or copies of publications.
  • Three work/educational references.
