Course Description

MCA 525 I.T. Project Management focuses on the Project Management Institute’s (PMI’s)
project management body of knowledge (PMBOK) and its application to information technology
(I.T.) projects. Students also learn to apply the PMBOK to the process-oriented project
management lifecycle sequence. Moreover, students explore the techniques and cases of I.T.
project management, along with emergent issues and how to address them using project
management concepts and techniques. (Formerly MCA 525 Project Management)

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn and discuss the PMBOK and its application to I.T. project management.
  • Understand how I.T. project management techniques and methods differ from those
    used in other industries, such as the construction or medical industries.
  • Learn IT-relevant instruments used for project management lifecycles.
  • Critically analyze relevant case studies to demonstrate lessons learned.
