Charisma University Announces New Chief Academic Officer & Provost

Charisma University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Peng Chan as its Chief Academic Officer & Provost.

Dr. Peng ChanDr. Peng Chan, who served as the Charisma University’s Executive Director of Global Development, holds a law degree with top honors, an MBA in Corporate Strategy & Finance, and a PhD in Strategic Management from the University of Texas at Austin. He has taught undergraduate, masters and PhD programs at major universities in the United States, China and Asia. He is a tenured professor at one of the largest business school in the United States and the Dean of a top online university. Dr. Chan has supervised MBA consulting teams that won the 1st place in International Business Plan Competition, beating out university teams from all over the world. He has delivered many speeches and seminars globally and has over 250 publications in conferences and refereed journals such as Academy of Management Executive, “`Multinational Business Review, Journal of Global Business, Journal of International Marketing, Journal of Academy of Marketing Science and Journal of Small Business Management. He has also written 2 books and is currently working on others.

Besides his academic achievements, Dr. Chan is a leading edge consultant, entrepreneur and businessman. He has over 25 years’ consulting experience and has advised and trained thousands of CEOs, business owners, executives and managers, particularly from US, China and other parts of Asia. His areas of expertise include: strategic planning & execution; global marketing strategies; franchising & franchise development; artificial intelligence & robotics; entrepreneurial & new venture management; change management; knowledge management; human resource management; dynamic leadership and customer service management. His clients range from huge conglomerates to small businesses and come from diverse industries. Dr. Chan is founder and President of the Global Management Group (GMG), an international consulting practice that focuses on the Asia-Pacific region and the Americas. One of GMG’s primary services is to assist U.S. companies in entering China and Asian markets and also Asian companies seeking to enter the U.S. market. In addition to his consulting practice, Dr. Chan is founder of an AI/robotics business, petroleum trading business, and a health distribution network.

Dr. Chan is recognized as a pioneer and leading authority on strategy and franchising in the Asia-Pacific region. He is among the first people to speak on these subjects in China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam and other Asian countries. He has restructured and reengineered many organizations in order to make them more competitive and profitable. He has helped the formation of franchise organizations throughout Asia. Dr. Chan is recognized as a China expert in the USA. He sat on the Board of the Asia Academy of Management and was a founding member of the International Association for Chinese Management Research (IACMR), the largest professional academic organization that focuses on management research in China.

Among many honors, Dr. Chan received the Outstanding Young Man of America Award “in recognition of his outstanding professional achievement, superior leadership ability and exceptional service to the community.”  He is a Fulbright Scholar and has been granted the Distinguished International Scholar Award by Phi Beta Delta (the International Honor Society) for his extensive contribution to international business.  He is listed in Who’s Who Among Outstanding Young Men of AmericaWho’s Who Among Asian Americans, and Who’s Who Among Global Leaders.  He is fluent in several languages including English, Chinese (multiple dialects), Malay, Indonesian, and Thai.

Charisma University remains grateful to Dr. Anita Abbot whose leadership role during her tenure as the University Provost & Chief Academic officer led to the successful BAC accreditation. She will remain serving as the Charisma University’s CARI Executive Committee Chair. CARI is a specialized organization and the umbrella body for higher research in Humanities, Social Science and Technology disciplines at the Charisma University.
