Charisma University Welcomes Dr. Peng Chan as Chief Academic Officer & Provost

Charisma University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Peng Chan as the new Chief Academic Officer (CAO) and Provost. Dr. Chan brings with him an impressive and diverse background in academia, business, and consultancy.

With a distinguished educational journey, Dr. Chan holds a law degree with top honors, an MBA in Corporate Strategy & Finance, and a PhD in Strategic Management from the University of Texas at Austin. He has enriched the academic landscape by teaching undergraduate, master’s, and PhD programs at renowned universities in the United States, China, and Asia. Dr. Chan holds a tenured professorship at one of the largest business schools in the United States and serves as the Dean of a leading online university.

Dr. Chan’s contributions extend beyond the classroom. He has guided MBA consulting teams to victory in international business plan competitions, outperforming university teams from around the globe. His influence also resonates through his extensive body of work, with over 250 publications in esteemed conferences and refereed journals. These include publications in prominent journals such as the Academy of Management Executive, Multinational Business Review, Journal of Global Business, Journal of International Marketing, Journal of Academy of Marketing Science, and Journal of Small Business Management. Dr. Chan is an accomplished author with two published books and ongoing projects in the pipeline.

In addition to his academic prowess, Dr. Chan is a prominent consultant, entrepreneur, and businessman with over 25 years of consulting experience. He has provided guidance and training to thousands of CEOs, business owners, executives, and managers across the United States, China, and various parts of Asia. His expertise spans a wide range of areas, including strategic planning and execution, global marketing strategies, franchising and franchise development, artificial intelligence and robotics, entrepreneurial and new venture management, change management, knowledge management, human resource management, dynamic leadership, and customer service management.

Dr. Chan is the founder and President of the Global Management Group (GMG), an international consulting practice specializing in the Asia-Pacific region and the Americas. GMG plays a pivotal role in assisting U.S. companies in entering Asian markets and vice versa. In addition to his consultancy, Dr. Chan is the founder of AI/robotics businesses, a petroleum trading venture, and a health distribution network.

His reputation as a pioneer and leading authority on strategy and franchising in the Asia-Pacific region is widely recognized. Dr. Chan has been instrumental in restructuring and reengineering organizations to enhance their competitiveness and profitability. His contributions have also been pivotal in establishing franchise organizations throughout Asia. Dr. Chan is regarded as a China expert in the United States and has held prominent positions on various boards and associations related to management research.

Among his numerous accolades, Dr. Chan has received the Outstanding Young Man of America Award, recognizing his outstanding professional achievement, leadership, and community service. He is a Fulbright Scholar and has been honoured with the Distinguished International Scholar Award by Phi Beta Delta, the International Honor Society, for his significant contributions to international business. Dr. Chan’s exceptional achievements have earned him a place in Who’s Who Among Outstanding Young Men of America, Who’s Who Among Asian Americans, and Who’s Who Among Global Leaders.

Dr. Chan is a polyglot, proficient in several languages, including English, Chinese (multiple dialects), Malay, Indonesian, and Thai.

Charisma University expresses its gratitude to Dr. Anita Abbot, whose exemplary leadership as the University Provost & Chief Academic Officer played a pivotal role in achieving BAC accreditation. Dr. Abbot will continue to serve as the Charisma University’s CARI Executive Committee Chair, overseeing research in Humanities, Social Science, and Technology disciplines.
