Course Description

This course introduces students to the teaching profession. Through this course, students learn about the social and historical contexts of teaching, preparing educational materials, the realities of teaching as a career, developing a teaching philosophy and making a difference as a teacher. Other topics covered in this course are education law, policy, standards, and politics, how this impact their chosen profession, and the importance for teachers to learn about learners. Moreover, students are encouraged to reflect on their interest in education, develop connections with other future educators, and explore leadership roles for which they can aspire.

  • Understand the responsibilities and expectations associated with the teaching profession.
  • Understand strategies in teaching and preparing educational materials.
  • Critically analyze the importance of different assessment methods.
