Course Description

This course explores best practices in classroom management, including the organization of time, materials, and classroom space as well as teacher strategies to manage individual and large group student behaviors, transitions, and other arrangements for classrooms in general and special education. Through this course, students will learn about approaches for creating and teaching expectations and rules, establishing procedures and structure in the classroom, actively engaging students, and managing misbehavior. Approaches in providing individualized behavior support are also an essential facet of this course

Learning Outcomes:

  • Develop planning skills for classroom organization to optimize use of instructional resources to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of access, use, maintenance, and storage of said resources.
  • Manage student progress data to measure individual and class performance.
  • Develop designing skills needed to organize the physical aspects of a classroom.
  • Learn to establish classroom procedures and rules for a conducive learning environment.
