Course Description

This course provides students with foundational knowledge and skills in adult learning. This course introduces students about andragogy, theories, and concepts of learning applied to adult learners, learning styles, and motivation in adult education programs. Other topics include adult literacy and diversity, learning in teams and groups, and consulting skills in an adult learning environment

Learning Outcomes:

  • Critically analyze motivation, reinforcement, retention, and transference in the context of adult learning.
  • Develop skills for adult program planning and management, learning strategies for adults, adult literacy and diversity, learning in teams and groups, and consulting skills in an adult learning environment.
  • Understand andragogy as opposed to pedagogy.
  • Learn how to enhance adult learners’ social relationships, external expectations, social welfare, personal advancement, stimulation, and cognitive interest.
