Course Description

This course introduces students to the cooperative learning approach, how it can be promoted, its potential for transforming how learning takes place, and how learners interact with one another, specifically in groups. This course teaches students the theories, models, and teaching strategies to become reflective and skilled in implementing cooperative learning in the classroom. Topics covered in this course include characteristics of effective cooperative groups, teachers’ discourse to promote student thinking and learning, and group composition

  • Understand the cooperative learning approach and its underlying theories, models, and concepts.
  • Develop skills to deliver effective teaching strategies on cooperative learning and forming cooperative groups.
  • Critically analyze the teacher’s functions and roles in cooperative learning.
