Course Description

This course introduces students to the medical ethics governing the legal relationship between medical practitioners and their patients. The course explores the legal and ethical implications of providing medical advice, diagnosis, and treatment. Covered topics include ethical and legal issues in the doctor-patient relationship, consent, treating adults lacking capacity, treating children and young people, patient confidentiality, managing health records, and prescribing and administering medication.

  • Learn and discuss appropriate approaches to legal and ethical dilemmas in medical practice.
  • Critically analyze relevant case laws pertinent to medical and healthcare.
