Course Description

BHIT 423 introduces students to global issues in travel and tourism, offering a critical examination of globalized people, places, and markets in tourism. This course emphasizes contemporary tourism management issues relevant to the 21st century. Moreover, students learn how tourism benefits from the relatively free flow of people, capital, and talent across international borders, allowing transnational investments that drive tourism development as part of a global agenda while empowering local populations and cultures.

  • Learn and discuss past and emergent global tourism and travel issues, emphasizing lessons learned.
  • Grasp the concepts of sustainability and globalization in the context of tourism.
  • Critically analyze the challenges brought about by an increasingly digitized, global tourism sector.
