BHP 403 Health Literacy (formerly BHP 403 Health Education) explores information retrieval, comprehension, and application for improving personal health and navigating healthcare systems. It addresses challenges of low health literacy, encompassing international perspectives from diverse settings.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand health literacy as both an individual and systemic concern from clinical, public health, and community empowerment perspectives.
  • Learn and discuss the influence of health literacy on healthy lifestyle choices and health outcomes.
  • Critically analyze health literacy as lifelong learning.
  • Critically analyze issues in health literacy relative to culture and community.
