Course Description

This course introduces students to the transdisciplinary field of health psychology, synthesizing findings from clinical, social, behavioral, and developmental psychology, as well as medicine (including epidemiology, genetics, and allied health). The course explores principles applicable to the entire health spectrum, including preventive practices, end-of-life care, diverse health issues, and patient behaviors. Additionally, students examine various professional roles through which health psychologists contribute to improved health outcomes.

  • Learn and discuss health behavior theory and practice.
  • Describe how biological, psychological, and social factors affect health, illness, and well-being.
  • Apply research findings to a variety of clinical scenarios.
