Course Description

This course explores the quantitative methods utilized in health care research and addresses common issues encountered in quantitative studies. Students gain knowledge of concepts, theories, and issues relevant to quantitative research in health care. The course covers five themes: philosophy, theory, research problems and questions; ethical considerations; quantitative research designs; measurement and data collection; and data analysis and presentation.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the concepts, theories, and issues in quantitative methods used in health care research.
  • Learn and discuss philosophical perspectives that underpin quantitative healthcare research.
  • Develop proficiency in assessing the quality of quantitative health research.
  • Learn quantitative methods of ethical data collection and analysis in health care studies.
