This course explores the increasingly diverse healthcare landscape in the United States and the specific health needs arising from this diversity, some of which remain unmet. The course emphasizes incorporating cultural competence and diversity management as essential components of the current and emerging healthcare systems in the United States to address challenges brought about by diversity. Students examine the integration of three systems in American healthcare: the prevention and curative treatment system, the workforce system, and the business system. Cultural competence and diversity management are highlighted as integral aspects of all three systems.
