Course Description

BHT 110 Sustainability in Tourism and Hospitality explores the skills, tools, and investments required to protect irreplaceable global resources from the impacts of escalating hospitality and tourism demand over the next 50 years. Through this course, students learn the appropriate paradigm for managing hospitality and tourism destinations to achieve business objectives while preserving the environment.

  • Understand the environmental impacts of hospitality and tourism.
  • Learn the skills, tools, and investments that protect the environment amidst escalating hospitality and tourism demand.
  • Critically analyze case studies to illustrate why budgets to protect local destinations are consistently underestimated and learn guidance on new metrics.
