Course Description

BSN 305 Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing provides a foundation for students to develop their skills in reading, critiquing, analyzing, and determining how to utilize research, existing knowledge bases, and bodies of evidence in nursing practice. This course teaches students the evidence‐based process and its application to nursing care. Students develop the necessary skills to find and access evidence sources and utilize a model to translate the evidence into practice. In the process, students increase their knowledge and skills to practice evidence-based nursing care. 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand research concepts, methods, and practical research applications in nursing practice.
  • Develop clinical questions that facilitate retrieval of best evidence in practice.
  • Undertake a comprehensive search of evidence to answer clinical questions.
  • Review the body of evidence and assess for credibility, clinical significance, and applicability.
