Course Description

BSN 400 Health Assessment explores methods, theories, tools, and the knowledge and skills underpinning holistic health assessment in nursing. Through this course, students learn the appropriate nursing assessment of patients in a variety of settings to determine patients’ needs and plan and deliver evidence-based health care. In this course, students adopt an enquiring approach to nursing care, focusing on quality work within a multidisciplinary team setting. Topics covered in this course include factors to consider when assessing patients, communication skills for holistic health assessment, physical and psychological assessment, and cultural and spiritual health assessment.
