Course Description

In this course, students will delve into the analysis of risks within management fields, aiming to formulate potential risk treatments and strategies for risk avoidance. The primary focus will be on crafting a comprehensive risk management plan, complemented by an in-depth exploration of implementation and evaluation processes. Additionally, students will apply fundamental principles of risk communication through practical scenarios.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the essence of risk management and its significance for both individuals and businesses.
  • Articulate how corporate risk management contributes to the coordination of financing and investment decisions within a corporation.
  • Identify key pure and financial risks confronted by businesses.
  • Evaluate risks by considering their frequency and severity through the application of various statistical and financial tools. Strategize the handling of different risks using appropriate risk management techniques, such as risk avoidance, loss control, planned risk retention, risk transfer via insurance and non-insurance contracts, as well as hedging financial risks.
  • Appreciate the organizational structure of risk management and recognize the importance of an integrated/holistic approach over a stand-alone method in contemporary business settings.
