Course Description

FIN 450 Microeconomic Issues and Policy Models introduces students to current microeconomics theory’s fundamental concepts and models. In this course, students learn not only microeconomics models but also the connections between them and the differing views of microeconomic theorists regarding the purpose of their work. Students also learn the applications of microeconomics models to the world and policymaking, primarily utilizing the mathematics that underpin these models.  

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn and discuss the fundamental concepts and models of current microeconomics theory.
  • Understand the different theoretical perspectives of microeconomics models, their connections, and the mathematics underpinning these models.
  • Understand the concept of equilibrium in microeconomics models.
  • Apply microeconomics models to analyze real-world problems and inform policymaking.
