PLG 225 Workers’ Compensation Law explores the essential aspects of different laws around the world that pertain to employees’ compensation for injuries or diseases in the workplace. This course examines the histories and purposes of such laws, coverages, benefits provided, claims, and with particular emphasis on employers’ liability. Through this course, students also learn how workers’ compensation laws impact the rights of individuals to alternative remedies, including tort or discrimination claims. The comparative approach of this course adequately prepares international students for a global perspective on workers’ compensation laws.
