Course Description

This course introduces students to theories and approaches to the relationship between curriculum goals and instructional strategies. This course emphasizes analyzing different instructional models to meet learning expectations embodied in curriculum goals and core curriculum content standards from preschool to high school. Topics covered in this course include theories underpinning instructional strategies based on curricula, teachers’ involvement in national curriculum standard-setting, curricula and instruction for students with learning needs, and challenges and opportunities in the field. (Formerly B.Ed 165 Curriculum Studies).

Learning Outcomes:

  • Critically analyze theories underpinning the relationships between curriculum and instruction.
  • Learn to develop appropriate instructional strategies to achieve curriculum standards.
  • Understand methods and strategies for adapting the classroom to diverse learner needs according to curriculum standards.
