This course examines the principles and practices that guide the management of healthcare organizations in a changing service environment. Through this course, students study how healthcare administrators respond to pressures involving cost, quality, healthcare reform, organizational performance, and stakeholder expectations while managing limited resources. Students also explore leadership, strategic management, organizational structure, human resources, communication, change, quality improvement, finance, marketing, ethics, and law as major areas of healthcare administration. The course emphasizes the administrative knowledge and managerial judgment required to improve organizational performance and support effective healthcare delivery.
