Course Description

ECON 403 Environmental Economics introduces students to the economic and ecological principles essential for understanding complex contemporary environmental issues and policy considerations. Through this course, students also learn the appropriate application of economic principles to help achieve environmental sustainability. 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn the fundamental economic, ecological, and institutional concepts and theories essential for understanding environmental economics with an interdisciplinary perspective.
  • Understand the economics of pollution control and environmental valuation.
  • Critically analyze the science and economics of climate change.
  • Learn the pathways to sustainability amidst major concerns arising from the unintended social, environmental, and economic consequences of rapid population growth, economic growth, and consumption of natural resources.
