Course Description

HRM 319 Collective Bargaining introduces students to the principles of collective bargaining, including bargaining environments and standards used in labor relations negotiations. In this course, students learn the normative framework for collective bargaining, prepare bargaining demands, prevent and resolve disputes, implement collective agreements, and reinforce negotiators’ capacities. 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the collective bargaining framework and policy guidelines of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
  • Learn constructive, meaningful, and informed negotiations for collective action.
  • Understand the bargaining environments and standards used in labor relations negotiations.
  • Critically analyze issues in collective bargaining and how they may be resolved.
